Dorie Hanson, LMHC, CCTP, QS

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult and transformative moments. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, navigating relationship challenges or workplace stress, adjusting to a major life transition, or processing past or recent trauma, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin healing.

I am certified in working with clients struggling with Grief and Trauma, and also have extensive experience working with anxiety related and mood disorders.

I strive to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you can show up exactly as you are. My role is to walk alongside you in your journey — not to tell you where to go, but to support you in discovering your own path forward.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in empowerment. I believe that healing begins when we feel seen, heard, and supported in reclaiming our own strength and voice. Together, we’ll work to reconnect with your sense of purpose and help you build the skills and insight needed to move through challenges with confidence and clarity.

I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based practices, and person-centered therapy. Each session is individualized to meet your specific needs and goals — therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I tailor our work to reflect your unique experience and pace.

Whether this is your first time seeking therapy, you’ve had a previous experience that didn’t feel like the right fit, or you’re simply looking for someone new to connect with, I’m glad you’re here. Taking the step to reach out is a meaningful act of self-care, and I’d be honored to support you in whatever comes next.

Relationship Stress

Whether you’re navigating friendships, family dynamics, or romantic connections, therapy is a safe space for you to process through these struggles by increasing your insight, building your communication skills, and learning how to better set boundaries. We can unpack complicated histories, identify emotional triggers, and raise awareness to productive and unproductive patterns in the relationship in order to work towards strengthening your connection with others.

Trauma

Trauma can often manifest unknowingly, especially when it stems from experiences like betrayal, medical issues, infertility, relationships or other deeply personal violations of trust or safety. These experiences may not be immediately recognized as traumatic, yet they can leave lasting emotional imprints. Meeting you where you are, and at your own pace, we will work together to process through your trauma, rebuild your feelings of empowerment, and learn therapeutic techniques and skills that can be used to support you in your healing journey.

Grief

Therapy can be a powerful support for those struggling with grief, offering a safe space to process emotions, find meaning, and rebuild a sense of stability. Grief isn’t limited to the loss of a loved one—it often shows up in other life transitions, like the end of a relationship, losing a job, or even letting go of long-held dreams. These losses can trigger deep emotional responses, and in therapy we will explore and validate those feelings, develop coping tools, and gradually work towards healing without minimizing the significance of what was lost.
